Vernon BC Beach Issues:
Sharing the Public Beaches while Being a Good Neighbour
Most Vernonites are generous and welcoming people, however on some Public
Lake Access beaches you may encounter some locals who do not wish you
to the public to use the "public" access beaches. Occasionally
some locals need to be politely reminded that the beaches are for the
public to use. Don't be disrespectful of the public beach accesses by
being too noisy, littering, or drinking alcohol (smoking pot) in public.
Some of the home owners near the public access do have their stories of
people acting like idiots at the beach. Enjoy the beach but respect their
privacy.
Glass or garbage:
On rare occasions you may encounter glass or garbage on a beach. A clean
beach will generally stay cleaner, so please help our city by picking
up any garbage.
More Sand at Kin Beach:
Kin Beach is too steep and needs a significant amount of sand added to
make the beach more attractive.
Better Parking:
More parking is needed at the Public Lake Access points, so please call
Vernon City Council and encourage better public parking. Don't park in
private lanes or block access for local folks since this is rude and only
leads to additional lobbying for restricted access to these access points.
Beach Bus:
Some Vernonites have dreamed of a beach bus from the downtown core which
would stop at the many beaches in the Vernon area. Call your Vernon City
Council to encourage this service.
