Vernon BC Area Beaches - Ellison Beach

Description:
A 15-20 minute drive from downtown Vernon BC, is the lively Ellison Point Provincial Park. It is one of the largest campgrounds near Vernon and have three wonderful natural beaches as well as a scuba diving area. The sand is more a fine gravel, however once in the water it is much softer. The walk to the beach is a bit long, however if you've got a disabled parking sticker, there are two spots to be found by following a narrow paved road on the north end of the first public parking spot. For those who can walk, after paying the $3 for parking (yes, they do check if you've paid), there is a 0.5 km walk down to the beach. There are many picnic tables and lots of shade. Don't ignore signs which warn of swimmers itch and make sure to us the showers to wash off the parasites which cause the itch. Dogs are not welcome on the main beaches however if you head south from the washrooms along a trail about 300 metres there is a dog beach.

Distance from Downtown Vernon BC:
Roughly 15 kms.

Water, toilets, picnic tables, after-swim showers.

Access:
Head to Okanagan lake from the downtown and then follow the signs.
